Hommage to Greek Distillery
In 2023 The Athenian House inaugurated The Evzon Bar, an hommage to cocktails inspired by local Greek distillery and celebrating the richness of Greek nature. All our Signature Cocktails are prepared with exquisite Greek spirits, such as Mastiha, Ouzo, Tsipouro & Vinsanto. The cocktails’ list is complemented by an exclusive selection of aged rare spirits from around the world. The Botanical Garden Selection, created exclusively for our guests consists of a trilogy of three Gin cocktails, perfumed with Greek botanics infused with artisanal Gins produced in Greece.
The famous Greek soldier called “Evzon” or “Tsolias” dating back to the Greek revolution of 1821, previously represented the royal guards, while today he remains the official guard of the Greek parliament. During Greek history the "tsolias" is an everlasting symbol of bravery and resistance. It is the soul of this soldier, combined with the beauty of his folklore original dressing, which inspires the Athenian House aesthetic concept.

Alexandros Gkikopoulos
Our Bar Manager
Alexandros Gkikopoulos was born in Athens and studied accounting. During his first years of professional life, he worked as an accountant in the morning and a bartender in the evening. At the age of 26 he decided to devote himself to bartending. Since then, he has prepared cocktail lists for numerous hotels and bars around Greece, emphasizing on the quality of first ingredients such as the spirits, the ice or the fruits used for the drinks. In 2015, the international cocktail guru Gary Regan selected his drink "Supernature" to be included in his famous "101 Best New Cocktails Volume". Today, aged 32, Alexandros has evolved into a social media persona, sharing his time between distillery seminars and commercial shows around the world, entrepreneurship, florist art and mixology. One of the most talented Greek mixologists of his generation, known for his humor, auto-sarcasm and bluntness, he creates timeless favourites for The Athenian House, such as his decadent Nespresso Martini, his Mediterranean Negroni or his Athenian Mohito.
